Morgan Rider - Senior Consultant
With 20 years’ experience, Morgan specializes in strategic corporate sustainability planning, environmental management system (EMS) development and implementation, and environmental health and safety (EH&S) compliance. She has managed and performed environmental compliance and permitting projects and compliance/management system audits, including best practice reviews, for large commercial clients with national and international assets. Morgan has extensive experience and expertise helping manufacturing companies in semiconductor, apparel, aerospace, automotive, forest products, food processing, renewable energy and mining industries conduct life cycle assessments, and implement programs and initiatives to reduce resource consumption (energy, water, materials), minimize waste, and reduce risks . Clients that Morgan has helped develop and implement sustainability programs and systems for clients including BMW North America, Xerox Corporation, Sutter Home Winery, Ball Aerospace, Pacific Gas & Electric, the Asian Development Bank, McKesson, and the Commission for Environmental Cooperation. Many of these projects follow and incorporate international guidelines and protocols such ISO 14001:2004, 18001, 14040, and 14064.
Since 2009 Morgan has been the Sustainability Chair for the Pacific Northwest Cleantech Open. The Clean Tech Open (CTO) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping great ideas become viable clean tech businesses (www.cleantechopen.com). The organization’s mission is to serve as an innovation catalyst, providing the infrastructure and processes to develop and motivate entrepreneurs and early stage companies creating clean, environmentally sustainable technologies. As the Sustainability Chair, Morgan's responsibilities include oversight for mentoring, training, and judging of the competitors from the northwest that are competing for the National Prize.
Before joining Blue Tree, Morgan worked as the Environmental Compliance Manager for LSI Logic and at Nike, and was a senior sustainability expert at Ecology and Environment. Morgan has a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University and is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Oregon.
